Our Adoption Timeline
July 2009 - Our church has an adoption initiative month and we begin to seriously consider adopting "someday."
2009-Beginning 2011 - We talked and prayed about when and where we would adopt. We seriously considered the foster-adopt program but knew we needed to be settled before beginning that process.
March 28, 2011 - We viewed some pictures from an orphanage in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and realized the desperate plight of these orphans. Tonight the Lord called us to adopt from Africa and begin the process right now!
March 30, 2011 - We began a fundraising event collecting cell phones/printer cartridges.
April 2011 - Began making/selling hairbows to raise money to bring our child home.
April 12, 2011 - We mailed our applications to One World Adoption Agency and Adoption Assistance (home study) along with a $250 check and $50 check for application fees.
April 20, 2011 - We received notice that our application was accepted with OWAS and an invoice for $3200.
April 30, 2011 - First fundraising "event" - Set up a table to sell bows at Piggly Wiggly.
May 11, 2011 - Announced that we are moving back to Louisville to settle!!
May 14, 2011 - Second fundraising "event" - Set up again at Piggly Wiggly to sell MORE bows :)
May 21, 2011 - Third fundraising "event" - Sold hamburgers/hot dogs/chips/drinks. This was our largest event so far! The Lord provided $1185.00!!
May 28, 2011- First yard sale fundraiser. We loaded the moving truck and headed to KY!!
June 5, 2011 - Mailed all our adoption agreement forms and first $3200 to OWAS :)
June 9, 2011 - First home study meeting
November 8, 2011- submitted dossier and $2500 to OWAS. Officially on the waiting list at #14!
February 22, 2012 - Number 6 on the waiting list....
